I've been basking in a lot of bubbles and rosé so I thought I would shake things up with some Broken Earth 2013 Chardonnay. That was an earthquake pun.
Now this is actually not what I would call the most summer-y of wines. Maybe save this for fall. Or maybe just drink whatever you want, whenever you want, because you feel like it. But this chardonnay has a lot of depth! I swear I got notes of cantaloupe on the nose, followed by citrus on the tongue that is rounded off with a nice oakiness/butteriness reminiscent of your traditional California chardonnay. SUCH LAYERS! (and you wear layers in the fall...I'm just trying to prove my point about this being a fall wine.)
This darling runs at $18 a bottle which is a solid win in my book. This leaves me a little scratch to maybe get some brie which is my favorite cheese to pair with almost any chardonnay.
But despite my insistance this might be more of a fall wine...I enjoyed it poolside....in 95 ° F. Like I said. You drink what you want when you want to.
